I don't want any trouble!

Well, friend, that's tough noogies. Some things in this world involve trouble. This morning I received an email from MoveOn.org regarding Sec. Donald Rumsfeld's appearance on Face the Nation on 3/14. He actually had the big brass ones to claim that no one that he knew of in the Bush administration had ever referred to Saddam Hussein or Iraq as an immediate threat to the USA. Apparently the left-wing, liberal press had made it up. Or better yet, it may have been those radical, pacifist, self-hating, anti-American protesters perhaps. Anyway, the interviewers confronted Sec. Rumsfeld with two of his own statements, one of which actually contained the phrase "immediate threat" in regards to Iraq back in September 2002. He proceeded to cover his flank as best he could.

The clip was being circulated to remind people of the importance to get our representatives to consider censure of the President for misleading us in the months before the Iraq war began. I made the call to my House Representative. I believe he ought to be reprimanded for such conduct. Hey, it's not impeachment; it just let's him and the world know that we don't want to be duped no matter how good the rational may be.

So I told my wife about calling Congress. She was concerned that any representative who spoke out against the President might get into trouble. Hmmm...I suppose there is the real possibility that if you point out such mistakes publicly you might face some heat. Rush Limbaugh today claims that Democrats are about to be labeled as pro-terrorist for disagreeing with the administration. You know, if you're against the United States, you're with the terrorists. What a lousy justification for shutting down the opposition. Mike Savage was railing against the Islamofacists last night. If we in the US can't disagree with our government without being labeled pro-terrorist, then we are facing an Amerofacist regime, and that's a WHOLE lot scarier to me than the possibility of an Islamic-Communist marriage. Free speech is becoming only available to those with views that support the Bush administration. I guess I'd better shut up now, before I say too much. Oops! Too late! And members of Congress, I hope that you will hold President Bush accountable for misleading us. It doesn't have to be fun or easy for it to be the right thing to do. Please turn Rush off for a while and turn on your sense of responsibility to your nation. We'll be glad you did. Thank you.
