Limbaugh Doctrine vs. Christianity

I guess I haven't listened to Rush Limbaugh enough in the last couple of years. Today I heard him refer to "The Limbaugh Doctrine" which is that "Peace is not achieved through negotiation..[but] through victory." He was commenting on the Israeli assassination of the founder of Hammas. This was the first I had heard of the doctrine. I am saddened by it.

Rush claims to be a Christian. What I am hearing does not SEEM to me to take into account the example and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth about how to live. Victory (aka domination) was not Jesus' prime concern. Love your enemies does not jive with assassination. I fear that Rush would label Jesus a "Lib" and promptly dismiss him if he were to call in to the show. He may also believe that Gandhi and ML King, Jr. were weak and misguided, too.

Such bashing is tiring and unhelpful. I was doing some Bible study and ran across this quote from William Barclay's The Gospel of John, Volume 2 commentary, "A warped mind brings a warped view of things; and, if we find ourselves becoming very critical of others and imputing unworthy motives to them, we should, for a moment, stop examining them and start examining ourselves."(p.112) We're all guilty of hate, but some make a career of spewing it. I will pray for Rush and for myself because of the feelings he brings out in me.
