Vote Naked, Pennsylvania!

Talk about upside down politics: The GOP in Pennsylvania is working to lessen the freedom of voters and become a parent to adults. The title above is linked to an AP article found on Qwestlive.com . Apparently after 232 years of nationhood, people think the government should be determining what we should wear to vote. In an effort to keep voters from wearing buttons, t-shirts, or whatever bearing a campaign message, the Pennsylvania GOP is suing to restrict what people can wear to vote. What? Yes, it's true. Under this proposal there could be voters who vote at schools who pass the school's dress code but are turned away from the polls.

The GOP fears that Obama supporters will turn out en mass to vote with campaign-garb on their backs. Isn't this a clear sign that they know they can't muster a similar possible number of McCain supporters to counter them? How desperate are they? Does a t-shirt or a button really change a person's mind without a conversation? Come on, Republicans!

Perhaps the answer is to vote naked in protest if they really try to enforce a dress code. Show up in an Obama shirt. Can't vote with it on? Take it off and vote! Try a totally different freedom of expression for election day. Which does the GOP want: topless voters or Obama and McCain clad voters? Libertarians, speak up on this!

I am disappointed that the average Republican isn't shutting these fear mongers up on their own. My friends across the aisle, look at what these folks are doing to negatively impact our freedoms. You won't be able to wear a McCain t-shirt, either. Is this the country you want? This should make the Democrats look pretty good to those who value rights and freedom. Republicans, you are tossing away the things you say you stand for so strongly. Think, please!!

Don't let the GOP treat us like little children. They may think they make a good parent, but they ain't my momma. Don't let them be yours, either. This is more insidious than anything FDR was ever accused of doing by the far Right of his day. Stay off my back and get out of my closet, you Republican alarmists.
