I am beginning to think I understand why our court system is soooo sloooow and why people think jury duty is such a hassle. This is the fifth day of jury duty. I was called in on the first day for a possible trial, but the defendant plead and it didn't need to happen. Now there have been four days in a row where I haven't even been asked to come in at all.
OK, I realize that it's possible that there are already trials running and so no one new is needed. I just doubt the possibility.
Here's the problem for me: Being "on call" for jury duty leaves me unable to plan anything significant for the work week. I guess that's hopeful thinking on my part. A more cynical person might just assume that they wouldn't be called, and then get pissed when the summons actually comes. I'm getting irritated by the lack of a summons!
Mental noodling on issues close to my heart.
