I'm up late tonight with my ocassional bout of insomnia. Tomorrow (today, actually) I'll be facing a panel of elders from my local church conference who will spend time getting to know me and probably seeking any cracks in my personality or my theology. If all goes well, I'll be approved to be commissioned as a probationary member of the Order of Deacons in The United Methodist Church in June 2005. If not, then it's another year of candidacy studies and work.
I have spent the last 40 minutes looking over other blogs to see what's out there. There is a lot of variety of stuff, but most of it is easily categorized as being about business or self. I am no different! I was saddened to see that there are some people who seem to blog to express their pain. Wouldn't it be great if everyone had a real person to share the ups and downs of life with? The Celts had a name for that kind of person in your life: anam cara; the soul friend. For some people it's their spouse or significant other, for others just a close friend. We all need that kind of relationship in our lives.
Mental noodling on issues close to my heart.
